Marissa Sherman 

Managing Director

Marissa is the Managing Director Advanced Awareness Counseling. She has been actively involved in counseling and psychology for over eight years, both in therapeutic and academic settings. She is a practical, analytical, and logical individual, which plays a significant role Advanced Awareness Counseling. 

Marissa has worked extensively with the LGBTQ+ community, most frequently helping clients with Gender Dysphoria/Transgender issues, including adults and adolescents who are gender non-conforming. She is a member of the World Professional Organization for Transgender Health (WPATH) and The LGBQ-Affirmative Therapist Guild of Utah. Marissa has helped guide members of the community through social, cultural, & physical hurdles, and has helped others make the transitions they have desired throughout their lives. 

Marissa is also a realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Influence Partners and operates as a real estate agent through this brokerage under the business name Advanced Awareness Realty, LLC. She is keenly aware of the needs of the LGBTQ+ community and seeks to ensure proper, equal, and loving guidance for anyone seeking a home. As such, she has also created a non-profit that serves the LGBTQ+ community with a specialty focus on the transgender population, Authentic Awareness INC.

Isaac Vazquez (PROVO and SANDY Offices)

Clinical Director

Isaac is the Clinical Director, Intake Assessor, and Primary Therapist for Advanced Awareness Counseling. Isaac has several years of experience as a therapist, clinical supervisor, clinical director, and owner of his own practice. 

His areas of expertise are finding peace with anxiety (personal & social), finding joy and life amidst depression, overcoming hurtful trauma and PTSD, and helping the LGBTQ+ come out confidently in society while assisting in their difficult transitions. He advocates extensively for the LGBTQ+ community and deeply empathizes with the intense difficulties they have as they search to feel whole and connected. Isaac is also our primary Neurofeedback and Biofeedback provider. 

Isaac has served our country in the United States Air Force and closely works with veterans to overcome PTSD and depression. His hobbies include car mechanics, video games, indoor wall climbing, and CrossFit.
